Policy Is Our Passion.

Change Is Our Purpose.

How We Can Help

SDMC uses the power of policy to transform communities. We partner with providers, funders, business owners, community leaders, government agencies and advocates to dismantle oppressive systems and empower folks to do that work themselves.

The voices of those most impacted by policy are far too often silenced in the political process. We help those voices be heard.

Our highly collaborative approach to systems change takes a values-based approach to relationship building that relies on letting those with lived experiences in the system lead the way in creating policies that work for all.

We rely on robust coalition building, extensive systems experience, cross-aisle direct lobbying, and community engagement and grassroots advocacy to create policy by the people, for the people.

What We Do

Our custom-designed trainings, extensive legislative and policy advocacy experience, and program design support help you create the biggest impact through winning advocacy strategies that improve the lives of the people you serve.

We provide valuable insight and expertise for clients and assist them in building their relationships in the legislature and in the larger advocacy community and in creating successful programs that empower communities and are designed to meet their needs.

From working to end youth homelessness to fighting for the rights of workers across the country to transforming direct services through the power of co-design to demilitarizing the police, we help clients invest in Black and Brown communities, dismantle systems of oppression, and create a just, more equitable world for all.

The Co-Design Institute

The Co-Design Institute is a hub of resources, information, connection and community centered around advancing the co-design process.

The Co-Design Institute advocates for putting those with lived experience at the center of the program and policy design process, provides access to the resources and training policymakers and program administrators need to implement the co-design model, and connects those across the country who are invested in creating policy created by the people instead of for the people.

Lifeline

Lifeline, a support system pilot project in partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce Office of Homeless Youth, embodies what SDMC is all about. A direct services program designed from the ground up by the people for the people.

The Lifeline program will serve as a no-wrong-door access point for support and connection to services for individuals in Washington who require assistance to overcome a life challenge that could escalate into a crisis if not addressed.
